COVID-19, Gender Housework Division and Municipality Size in Spain

The COVID-19 health crisis brought with it an increase in the workload on family members due to restriction of services and suspension formal informal care networks. Numerous studies have analyzed how home confinement affected different gender gaps, including gap related chores within home. This research aims contribute existing literature from perspective geography by introducing variable municipality size analyses. Our case Spain shows had a significant impact albeit varying degrees. Women, especially those living small municipalities, experienced widening domestic during confinement. study distribution more burdensome between genders even imbalanced scenario detriment women. However, following end confinement, situation improved. Although imbalance against women remains, respect pre-pandemic has been reduced.
